Stories behind the missions

MEET ANTHONY

Recently, we had the opportunity to assist a senior in Holly Springs who faced significant challenges—Anthony was unable to read or write and was struggling to manage his bills. Our team stepped in with compassion and care to provide financial assistance. We helped him complete the application and gather all the necessary documentation. We also connected him to several resources to help him manage his budget more effectively. And thanks to our network, we were able to support Anthony in getting a gas line installed in his mobile home, improving both his safety and comfort.

MEET SOFIA

For four years, Sofia and her family called a hotel room home. Every day brought uncertainty, but she never stopped striving for something better. When she connected with us for crisis assistance, she received help to cover her hotel balance. From there, she was referred to our case management program to take steps toward long-term housing stability. She found the right place, but she needed help to make it hers. NeighborUp assisted with the deposit and first month’s rent. We also helped her secure a washer and dryer from ReStore, making her new house feel even more like home. Today, Sofia’s working at a local grocery store and happy to have her family in a home.

Next Step

READY TO BE A PART OF THE IMPACT?

The staff and Board of Directors continue to evaluate options to increase our client services capacity with our revenue-generating potential and partnerships with local churches and nonprofits. With our founders, Margaret Keller and Antoinette Clark, always in mind, our focus remains on helping clients become self-reliant while addressing immediate crises. We invite you to help us in this endeavor through your financial support, donations to the Thrift Shop, volunteering, and other acts of compassion for our community.
