NeighborUp and Western Wake Crisis Ministry Boards of Directors Unanimously Approve Merger to Enhance Community Services

[Wake County, NC] – NeighborUp and Western Wake Crisis Ministry (WWCM) are pleased to announce that their Boards of Directors have unanimously approved a merger to combine efforts and expand services to better serve the community. The merger will strengthen the organizations’ capacity to address the growing needs of food security, housing stabilization, workforce development and emergency assistance in the area.

This decision follows months of due diligence, exploration and planning, and recognizes a shared mission and complementary services. The combined organization will leverage the strengths of NeighborUp and WWCM to create an even more robust and comprehensive approach to community support, and enhance programs while streamlining resources.

“The decision to merge marks an exciting new chapter for both NeighborUp and Western Wake Crisis Ministry,” said Andy Ferrell, Chair of the Board of NeighborUp. “Together, we will be well-equipped to meet the growing needs in our community and serve more families, increasing our impact on our neighbors who need us most.”

The Transition Taskforce, comprised of staff and volunteers from both organizations, will now begin drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be ratified by the boards in November. Throughout the transition, both organizations will continue their programs and services to our communities without interruption.

“This merger allows us to build upon the strong foundation and rich history of both organizations,” said Tom Gebbia, Chair of the Board of Western Wake Crisis Ministry. “Our shared values and combined resources will position us to best meet the needs of our neighbors and help them thrive.”
